New NYSIR Series on District Data Protection Officers

Friday, July 12, 2019

In anticipation of state Education Department requirements calling for the establishment of district and BOCES data protection officers, NYSIR is producing an exclusive series of articles to help education professionals understand and implement expected changes emanating from New York State Education Law 2d regulations (Part 121).

The introductory article, available here, deals with the increasing importance of safeguarding personally identifiable information (PII) related to students, teachers, administrators and staff, as well as the development of job descriptions that could be used in the hiring of district data protection officers.

The series, called NYSIR Cyber Brief, is only available to current NYSIR subscriber districts and is password-protected.
